Slam Poetry Meets Typography

I’ve found another little gem for your visual pleasure. Until recently I wasn’t really too familiar with “Slam Poets”!  These guys are Poets, but their delivery is what defines them, and they compete in Poetry Slams where the audience judges them and picks the winner. The poet reciting in this video is Taylor Mali.

This post is not really about the poetry – it is about the typography. Similarly to my previous post, this is also about Kinetic Typography. This video was created by a film student Ronnie Bruce, and it is both a lesson in literacy and typographic creativity.

Experimental Kinetic Typography

Filed under: Art, Graphic Design — Tags: , — markmccorkell @ 6:23 pm

This is easily the coolest kinetic typography I have ever seen. It is a short film directed and animated by German Designer Sebastian Lange, who is part of the My Name Was God interactive agency.

Leo Burnett Advertising

I’d like to say I discovered this website myself, but that would be a lie – my bro passed me on a link to check this out. This is indeed a superb example of creativity on the web, and an example that a website can be more than a simple system of pages.

Leo Burnett is world famous advertising executive responsible for creating such icons as the Jolly Green Giant, the Marlboro Man, Toucan Sam, Charlie the Tuna, Morris the Cat, the Pillsbury Doughboy, the 7up “Spot”, and Tony the Tiger.

This website echoes creativity from the first moment you land on it – check it out at www.leoburnett.com. You will not be disappointed.

A Clockwork Orange Redeux

Following on from my previous Stanley Kubrick post, I stumbled upon this little gem – A Clockwork Orange Redeux. It’s really cleverly edited and it has shows some of the funny side to the Kubrick masterpiece. This is a really good example of what moving image arts is all about!

Stanley Kubrick Bloopers

I have always been a big fan of Stanley Kubrick, particularly throughout my University years when I chose to study “A Clockwork Orange” and “The Shining” as movie topic’s for my Moving Image Arts class. He was a film artist, and one of the first great ones, in my opinion.

Everyone has heard of “The Shining”, and “A Clockwork Orange”, but only a fraction of people actually understood what they were actually about.

I found this funny video below on Vimeo and it’s an animated sequence of bloopers from some of his most well known films – check it out, if you know the films then you’ll find it as funny as I did!
